Out for Justice

HE’S A COP. IT’S A DIRTY JOB… BUT SOMEBODY’S GOT TO TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE.

After the murder of a colleague, Brooklyn cop Gino Felino (Steven Seagal) goes after one of his childhood friends (William Forsythe) who’s on a drug-fueled crime spree. The premise for this action-thriller isn’t bad, and might have been something if someone in charge (or the lead actor) gave a damn. It’s a cat-and-mouse game between two former friends who chose different paths in life, but we never learn anything real about them and their background, only clichés – and Brooklyn doesn’t play much of a role here either. OK action, but Forsythe is a bit of a bore.

1991-U.S. 91 min. Color. Directed by John Flynn. Cast: Steven Seagal (Gino Felino), William Forsythe (Richie Madano), Jerry Orbach (Ronnie Donziger), Jo Champa, Shareen Mitchell, Sal Richards… Gina Gershon, Julianna Margulies, John Leguizamo.

Trivia: Co-produced by Seagal.
