Gremlins 2: The New Batch

Billy and Kate (Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates), who are now engaged and work for the same company in New York City, discover that a certain mogwai friend of theirs is being used as a guinea pig by scientists in the office building… The sequel to Gremlins (1984) is not quite as dark, but zanier, opening with an ambitious, new animated Looney Tunes segment by Chuck Jones featuring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck! All the action takes place inside a Rockefeller Center-type high-rise, and there are loads of references to other movies (and itself). Perhaps a little too wild at times, turning repetitive near the end, but still buckets of fun.

1990-U.S. 106 min. Color. Directed by Joe Dante. Cast: Zach Galligan (Billy Peltzer), Phoebe Cates (Kate Beringer), John Glover (Daniel Clamp), Robert Prosky, Robert Picardo, Christopher Lee. Voices of Howie Mandel, Tony Randall. Cameos: Leonard Maltin, John Astin, Hulk Hogan, Joe Dante.

Trivia: Co-executive produced by Steven Spielberg.
