A Wrinkle in Time

BE A WARRIOR.

Teenager Meg Murry (Storm Reid) travels together with her six-year-old brother and a friend of hers to a different dimension where they might find out what happened to Meg’s father (Chris Pine), a scientist who disappeared four years ago. Disney’s gamble, betting on a 3D fantasy adventure directed by someone with little experience of such films, didn’t pay off commercially or critically, but is nevertheless an example of Hollywood trying to show a more diverse face. Majestic visuals at times, and a likable call for kindness, but dramatically inert.

2018-U.S. 109 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Ava DuVernay. Novel: Madeleine L’Engle. Cast: Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which), Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit), Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who), Storm Reid (Meg Murry), Levi Miller, Deric McCabe… Chris Pine, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Peña, David Oyelowo.

Trivia: Previously filmed as a TV movie in 2003.
