THE LEGEND IS BORN.
In the 1400s, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire (Dominic Cooper) demands 1,000 boys from Wallachia and Transylvania to be used as soldiers… but he doesn’t know that Prince Vlad Tepes (Luke Evans) has just made a new, intimidating acquaintance. A Dracula movie that tries a fresh approach by tying a historical figure to the origins of Bram Stoker’s vampire. Still, using him and the real-life sultan becomes a bit pointless since everything in their lives has been changed or invented by the writers anyway. An OK horror-adventure, but Charles Dance is underused.
2014-U.S. 92 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Gary Shore. Cast: Luke Evans (Vlad Tepes III), Dominic Cooper (Mehmed II), Sarah Gadon (Mirena), Charles Dance, William Houston, Art Parkinson.
Trivia: Sam Worthington was allegedly considered for the lead.
