Devil

BAD THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON.

In downtown Philadelphia, five strangers get stuck in an elevator in an office building where a mysterious suicide just took place; soon, the people in the elevator start dying one after anotherā€¦ M. Night Shyamalan created the story behind this thriller that borrows from Agatha Christie (especially ā€And Then There Were Noneā€) but adds a supernatural twist. The premise is isolated and simple but keeps tension high throughout ā€“ whoā€™s responsible for what happens in that elevator? Nothing blindingly original here, but it works like a good Twilight Zone episode. Eerie credits show a city upside down, like a satanic symbol.

2010-U.S. 80 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ John Erick Dowdle. Cast: Chris Messina (Bowden), Logan Marshall-Green (Tony Janekowski), Jenny Oā€™Hara (The Old Woman), Bojana Novakovic, Bokeem Woodbine, Geoffrey Arend.

Trivia: Co-produced by Shyamalan. Alternative title: The Night Chronicles I: Devil.
