Going in Style

After losing their pensions due to corporate restructuring, three New York City retirees (Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin) are toying with the idea of robbing a bank. The original 1979 film had a bunch of older comedians in the leads; the remake cast more prominent Hollywood stars. They’re a huge reason why this comedy is worth a look; Caine and Freeman have done several movies together and they know how to work their charm, together with Arkin and Ann-Margret (in a much smaller role). A breezy time-filler, pleasantly made by Zach Braff, who avoids the undignified mistakes of a few earlier comedies for seniors.

2017-U.S. 96 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Zach Braff. Cast: Michael Caine (Joe Harding), Morgan Freeman (Willie Davis), Alan Arkin (Albert Garner), Ann-Margret, Matt Dillon, John Ortiz… Christopher Lloyd.
