LEAVE THE REAL WORLD BEHIND.Ā
In 1970s London, doctor Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) moves into a modern high-rise tower that has everything you could ask for, giving its occupants less and less reasons to even leave the building. J.G. Ballardās cult novel, deemed āunfilmableā by some people, took a long time to reach the big screen. This satire on the British class system deliberately goes off the rails in its second half and its path isnāt entirely convincing. Still, the filmmakers do an admirable job trying to navigate through the novelās challenges and create a visually gorgeous, stylish nightmare. A sense of humor helps a lot, and so do the superb actors.
