HO NO SHE DIDN’T.
Madea (Tyler Perry) and her great-niece Eileen (Anna Maria Horsford) travel to Alabama where Eileen’s daughter (Tika Sumpter) has plenty of problems, one of which is not having told her mother that she married a white man… The seventh film to feature Perry’s drag act is easier to tolerate because he’s in good shape as the fearless matriarch and has a few funny scenes. For once, as a filmmaker, he doesn’t allow his sugary, predictable moralizing to take over the whole movie but finds a balance. Still, a clumsy way to address racism, as always.
