The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

100yearoldwhoclimbedAllan Karlsson (Robert Gustafsson), whose hundredth birthday is about to be celebrated at his retirement home, runs away – and accidentally comes across millions in drug money. A massive box-office hit in its home country, the filmmakers take us through a farce involving the geriatric, his newfound friends and a criminal gang, as well as flashbacks to the old man stumbling into one historic twentieth century event after another. Some elements are reminiscent of Forrest Gump and Being There; funny and whimsical, but its two main storylines are a bad fit. Gustafsson is worth a look as the laidback 100-year-old.
