Dirty Dancing

HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE.

dirtydancingIn 1963, teenager “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey) goes with her parents on a vacation to a resort in the Catskills, and she soon becomes involved with a charismatic dancer (Patrick Swayze). This film wasn’t just a box-office hit, but also had some cultural influence, not least on teenage girls. Based on the screenwriter’s personal experiences, the story focuses on a romance defying both parents and the establishment. Sexual heat and romance is skilfully woven into the dancing, and the two leads (both actual dancers) are well cast. Effective mix of pop tunes from the era and new ones, including “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” in the riveting finale.
