The November Man

A SPY IS NEVER OUT OF THE GAME.

novembermanRetired CIA agent Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) is approached by a former boss (Bill Smitrovich) who needs him to extract an operative from Russia; she knows the name of a witness who can tie a presidential candidate to war crimes in Chechnya. The first film to be based on Bill Granger’s series of Devereaux novels is as standard as they come, a very uneven thriller that mixes explosive but formulaic action sequences with quieter moments that are meant to lead us astray in the hunt for the real villain of the piece. Brosnan is OK in a Liam Neeson-type turn.

2014-U.S. 108 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Roger Donaldson. Novel: Bill Granger (“There Are No Spies”). Cast: Pierce Brosnan (Peter Devereaux), Olga Kurylenko (Alice Fournier), Luke Bracey (David Mason), Bill Smitrovich, Eliza Taylor, Caterina Scorsoneā€¦ Will Patton.
