When Becky (Rebel Wilson) announces to everybody’s surprise that she’s getting married, three cynical friends (Kirsten Dunst, Isla Fisher, Lizzy Caplan) gather in New York City for a bachelorette party. On the surface this comedy may look like another Hangover (2009) or Bridesmaids (2011), but the formula is less obvious, the palette is darker and the characters more honestly drawn. The fate of a wedding dress veers into silliness, but the tone is refreshingly frank (if you can take it), with the four leads a pleasure to watch as they obsess over the miserable parts of their lives (and painful past).
