Former CIA agent Ethan Renner (Kevin Costner), who’s dying of a tumor, decides to reconnect with his ex-wife and daughter (Connie Nielsen, Hailee Steinfeld) in Paris, but is also drawn into another mission. Costner’s attempt to do a Liam Neeson (aided by Taken co-writer Luc Besson) is a clumsy mixture of action and family drama. Costner is not bad as the terminal killer (who rides a bike around Paris) and the action comes alive at times. But the story is terribly generic and that goes for the portrayal of the strained father-daughter relationship as well.
