IN A GAME DIVIDED BY COLOR, HE MADE US SEE GREATNESS.

42In 1945, talented baseball player Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) is recruited by the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first African-American in Major League Baseball. Although the icon was memorably portrayed in The Jackie Robinson Story (1950), this bio has the benefit of historical distance where Robinson’s experiences of the often aggressive racism that he faced on and off the diamond is startling to behold. The film has a traditional, sometimes overly obvious narrative but it’s effective, with a good lead performance. Harrison Ford is also fun to watch as the curmudgeonly Dodgers manager.
