After ten years as the headline act at a Las Vegas hotel, magicians Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton (Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi) are challenged by changing tastes and a wild street magician (Jim Carrey). Audiences and critics made sure that this comedy turned into a vanishing act, which initially feels unfair. The jokes and central premise are OK and the movie benefits from funny performances by Carell, Carrey and Alan Arkin as magicians with different attitudes to their craft and careers. However, the filmmakers show no interest in developing that premise.

Quote: “Are you being serious? What’s a webisode? It’s… it’s a show that you do on the Internet, just like being on TV or having a movie except you don’t go… through… you know all the hassle of… people seeing it.” (Mohr to Carell)
