Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

ALL NEW! ALL WILD! ALL FUN!

abbottcostellodrjekyllIn the early 1900s, two cops (Bud Abbott, Lou Costello) in London become involved in a series of brutal misdeeds committed by a monstrous man. Sooner or later the comic duo obviously would have to do their own version of the Robert Louis Stevenson tale; this one came the same year as they went to Mars and is equally disappointing. They’re reuniting with an old pal, Boris Karloff, but not much comes out of it. Never dull, but all Hyde does in the movie is sneaking around and finding opportunities to frighten Lou.

1953-U.S. 77 min. B/W. Directed by Charles Lamont. Cast: Bud Abbott (Slim), Lou Costello (Tubby), Boris Karloff (Henry Jekyll), Craig Stevens, Reginald Denny, Helen Westcott.

Trivia: Most of the time Hyde is played by a stuntman.
