Echoes from the Dead

echoes from the deadWhen Julia Davidsson (Lena Endre) returns in 1993 to the island where she grew up, and where her five-year-old son went missing more than twenty years earlier, she finds her father (Tord Peterson) busy with a little sleuthing on his own. A thriller from the people who turned Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium” novels into films. The desolate, flat countryside of the island and constantly dark skies bring character to the story, and the cast is fine, but the film is strangely void of any suspense and doesn’t do anything with its potential for horror. A pity; the novel is quite a page-turner.
