Iron Man 3

ironman3Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) has started to suffer from panic attacks at a time when the world is threatened by an international terrorist organization headed by the mysterious Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). The man who once wrote Lethal Weapon (1987) stepped into the directing chair for a superhero movie and it shows. Under Shane Black’s supervision Stark channels Martin Riggs, and the movie as a whole (following right after The Avengers (2012)) is heavy on both action and comedy. Big, loud, a little too jokey at times… and the 3D is pointless.

2013-U.S. 130 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Shane Black. Screenplay: Drew Pearce, Shane Black. Music: Brian Tyler. Cast: Robert Downey, Jr. (Tony Stark), Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia “Pepper” Potts), Don Cheadle (James Rhodes), Guy Pearce, Ben Kingsley, Rebecca Hall… Jon Favreau. Voice of Paul Bettany. Cameos: Stan Lee, Bill Maher, Joan Rivers, Mark Ruffalo.

Trivia: Jessica Chastain and Jude Law were reportedly considered for parts.

I’ll do neither just yet. On this site I publish short reviews of most movies; those that are worth a full review (like The Avengers) get exactly that. Now, judging from your tone, I suspect you’re a die-hard fan of the franchise who can’t stand the sight of anything less than four stars. Well, too bad.
