Casino Jack

HONOR. INTEGRITY. PRINCIPLES. EVERYTHING IS NEGOTIABLE.

casinojackIn the mid-90s, slick Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff (Kevin Spacey) gets involved in the world of Indian tribal gaming, which is eventually what will bring him down. The same year as Alex Gibney made his documentary Casino Jack and the United States of Money, this equally flashy (but less substantive) fictionalized drama was also released. We’re getting the whole background story leading up to Abramoff’s arrest, and an idea of how easily corruption might get the better of you. Best part: Spacey and Jon Lovitz’s enjoyable performances as two sides of the same wheeler-dealing coin.

2010-U.S.-Canada. 108 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by George Hickenlooper. Cast: Kevin Spacey (Jack Abramoff), Barry Pepper (Michael Scanlon), Kelly Preston (Pam Abramoff), Jon Lovitz, Rachelle Lefevre, Maury Chaykin.
