THEY’RE TAKING ADVENTURE TO NEW LENGTHS.
For her 18th birthday, Rapunzel wants to leave the isolated tower where she was raised for the first timeā¦ but she doesn’t realize that the reason why she’s there is because she’s actually a kidnapped princess. One of Disney’s most expensive animated films may be in 3D, but will look too familiar to many viewers. It’s all here ā Alan Menken songs, princes and princesses, sidekicksā¦ still, it’s hard to complain when it’s this good. Co-director Byron Howard made Bolt (2008) and this fairy tale has the same kind of fun, breakneck adventures. Beautifully designed, amusing interplay between the two leads and just the right balance between old-fashioned and contemporary.

And they had to show us some artwork for another sequence, so we took a break with the orchestra and everybody and we went into another room, and Alan said, ‘Can I come?’ So, we said, ‘Yeah’.Ā So, he came in and we were talking and giving notes, and wrangling this artwork, and Alan was like, ‘Oh, you guys beat up everybody!’ We were like, ‘Yeah, we’re not out to get you, Alan! It might feel that way, because we are really tough on our crew, and it’s really hard. But it’s nothing personal. We just want the best.’Ā And you know what? John Lasseter is like that with us.
