Meatballs

WHEN THIS LOT GO BACK TO NATURE, NATURE RUNS FOR ITS LIFE.

Camp North Star may not be as fancy as certain other summer camps… but head counsellor Tripper Harrison (Bill Murray) and his staff make sure that the kids have the time of their lives. The fact that this harmless comedy was a huge hit in its day may come as a surprise to anyone watching it today. An episodic affair with various (unfunny) pranks, the movie tries to instill a sense of nostalgia, but is now only relevant as the first collaboration between Ivan Reitman and Murray.

1979-Canada. 92 min. Color. Directed by Ivan Reitman. Screenplay: Harold Ramis, Daniel Goldberg, Janis Allen, Len Blum. Cast: Bill Murray (Tripper Harrison), Harvey Atkin (Morty Melnick), Kate Lynch (Roxanne), Russ Banham, Chris Makepeace, Kristine DeBell.

Trivia: Followed by three sequels, starting with Meatballs Part II (1984).
