DEATH COMES TO ALL EXCEPT THOSE WHO DESERVE IT MOST.
Alcoholic L.A. ex-cop Matt Scudder (Jeff Bridges) attends an AA meeting when a woman slips him an invitation to a private gambling club, which leads him into a dangerous game of sex, drugs and murder. Writer Oliver Stone continues on the path he started in Scarface (1983), with generous helpings of sordidness. A slow-moving, tasteless story that takes us nowhere and has far too many sequences where Bridges and other actors just stand around screaming at each other.
