U2: Rattle and Hum

The same year as U2 released their sixth studio album, “Rattle and Hum”, this concert movie was also shipped to theaters. Phil Joanou never comes close to the band members in interviews, but watching the Irish rockers get to know American culture and its music legacy during their “Joshua Tree” tour of 1987 has its moments, especially in a meeting with blues icon B.B. King who performs “When Love Comes to Town” with the band. Concert clips display their greatest hits with impressive force ā€“ as well as a lead singer, Bono, who’s cocky and not afraid to “bug” audiences with human-rights causes. Blending color and black-and-white may not have the impact Joanou is hoping for, though.
