The Iron Lady

NEVER COMPROMISE.

theironladyPhyllida Lloyd reunited with herĀ Mamma Mia!Ā star Meryl Streep for a biopic that shares the same problem as a similar movie from that year,Ā J. Edgar. Both try to cram fragments from a fascinating, very eventful life into one neat package and end up with a simple history lesson that is unsatisfactory on a personal level. This one moves so fast between key events that some scenes come across as little more than music videos. Still, compelling at times in its depiction of dementia and buoyed by Streepā€™s outstanding performance as the lady who wouldnā€™t turn; the makeup is utterly convincing.
