Anything Else

IN ANY RELATIONSHIP, ONE PERSON ALWAYS DOES THE HEAVY LIFTING.

anythingelseYoung comedy writer Jerry Falk (Jason Biggs) juggles two challenging relationships, one with a much older colleague (Woody Allen) who keeps giving him inappropriate advice, and the other a love affair with the annoying Amanda (Christina Ricci). Allen’s most critically lambasted movie has its loud moments as Ricci and Stockard Channing play an overbearing mother and daughter couple who keep tormenting Biggs (who also has a little too much of the director’s voice in him to be a credible twentysomething). Still, it’s better whenever Allen shows up and it has a few funny lines.

2003-U.S. 108 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed by Woody Allen. Cast: Woody Allen (David Dobel), Jason Biggs (Jerry Falk), Christina Ricci (Amanda Chase), Danny DeVito, Stockard Channing, KaDee Strickland… Jimmy Fallon, Fisher Stevens, Diana Krall.

Quote: “I feel like committing suicide, but I’ve got so many problems, that wouldn’t solve them all.” (Biggs)
