Cemetery Junction

BE YOUNG. BE FREE. BE SOMEBODY.

In the small town of Cemetery Junction, three teens (Christian Cooke, Tom Hughes, Jack Doolan) ask themselves a classic question – should I stay or should I go? In his second feature film as a director (collaborating with the co-creator of The Office, Stephen Merchant), Ricky Gervais delivers a coming-of-age tale set in 1973 that contains plenty of sweetness and laughs (as well as an engaging soundtrack of contemporary songs) but never any surprises. Still, there’s probably some truth in it as Gervais also grew up in the area. Engaging cast, including Ralph Fiennes who’s always perfect as unpleasant bores.

2010-Britain-U.S. 95 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant. Cast: Christian Cooke (Freddie Taylor), Felicity Jones (Julie Kendrick), Tom Hughes (Bruce Pearson), Jack Doolan, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson… Matthew Goode, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant.
