Tim Conrad (Paul Rudd) sees an opportunity to climb the corporate ladder when his boss (Bruce Greenwood) invites him to an exclusive dinner party where every guest has to bring an idiot to amuse the others. This remake of the French comedy The Dinner Game (1998) tries to be funny and create an emotional core, but destroys everything that felt original about Francis Veber’s film in the process. The cast is better than the material, including Steve Carell as the certainly idiotic but friendly taxidermist and Zach Galifianakis as his very weird boss.Ā
