Extraordinary Measures

DON’T HOPE FOR A MIRACLE. MAKE ONE.

Business executive John Crowley (Brendan Fraser), who has two children afflicted with Pompe disease, contacts the eccentric but brilliant scientist Robert Stonehill (Harrison Ford) and offers to help his research financially. This movie’s background story is without a doubt interesting and emotional, and the filmmakers offer an insight into the dry, laborious process of funding medical research. Stacked with cute kids and coated with sugary strings, the film would love to be more than a simple melodrama but that’s what it is; the cast rarely rises above the mediocre.

2010-U.S. 106 min. Color. Directed byĀ Tom Vaughan. Book: Geeta Anand (“The Cure”). Cast: Brendan Fraser (John Crowley), Harrison Ford (Robert Stonehill), Keri Russell (Aileen Crowley), Meredith Droeger, Diego Velazquez, Sam M. Hall.
