Righteous Kill

MOST PEOPLE RESPECT THE BADGE. EVERYBODY RESPECTS THE GUN.

Two veteran NYPD detectives (Robert De Niro, Al Pacino) are looking for a serial killer whose victims are all criminals; they soon realize that they’re probably looking for a cop. The third film the two stars made together is not exactly up to par with that memorable coffee shop scene in Heat (1995). Both of them are on autopilot here and they’re trapped in a thriller with a script that immediately tries to pinpoint the murders on one of them; any smart viewer will figure out that a twist is coming. Still, OK stuff if you don’t think about it too much.

2008-U.S. 100 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Jon Avnet. Cast: Robert De Niro (Turk), Al Pacino (Rooster), Carla Gugino (Karen Corelli), Curtis Jackson, Donnie Wahlberg, Brian Dennehy… John Leguizamo, Melissa Leo.
