Four couples gather in a Colorado ski lodge; they’ve known each other since college and their marriages are going through rough patches. Tyler Perry took a break from one of his most tiresome creations, Madea (but not his preachy sentimentality, God forbid), for this portrait of eight people who have successful careers but lead far more troubled private lives. Those expecting the usual Perry fare might be surprised to learn that this movie is actually entertaining, true to life and has decent performances. Still, clichés and shallowness must ultimately prevail.
