Law Abiding Citizen

HOW DO YOU STOP A KILLER WHO IS ALREADY BEHIND BARS?

When the city of Philadelphia fails to properly punish the men who killed his family, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) decides to exact revenge in grand fashion. A thriller that acts as if it’s smarter than it really is and tries to say something important about the flaws of the U.S. legal system. However, all ambitions are quickly tossed aside in favor of a story that grows increasingly hard to believe; some of the ingredients are too obviously dumb and Butler’s character turns out to be an empty Rambo figure. Still, fun on a trashy level.

2009-U.S. 109 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ F. Gary Gray. Cast: Jamie Foxx (Nick Rice), Gerard Butler (Clyde Shelton), Bruce McGill (Jonas Cantrell), Colm Meaney, Leslie Bibb, Regina Hall… Viola Davis.

Trivia: Frank Darabont was allegedly considered for directing duties.
