Revenge of the Pink Panther

MONTEZUMA GOT HIS REVENGE. NOW IT’S THE PINK PANTHER’S TURN!

A criminal organization tries to have Chief Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) killed, but fails; our hero lets them think otherwise. The sixth movie in this franchise is the last with Sellers when he was still alive. Coming off the heels of the wild and crazy Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976), it’s annoying to see how little imagination that has gone into this chapter. Herbert Lom has little to do and Burt Kwouk’s expanded part doesn’t generate many laughs. Still, Sellers is a hoot when disguising himself as Toulouse-Lautrec… and a Swedish fisherman.

1978-U.S. 99 min. Color. Widescreen. Produced and directed by Blake Edwards. Screenplay: Frank Waldman, Ron Clark, Blake Edwards. Music: Henry Mancini. Cast: Peter Sellers (Jacques Clouseau), Herbert Lom (Charles Dreyfus), Robert Webber (Philippe Douvier), Dyan Cannon, Burt Kwouk, Robert Loggia.

Trivia: Followed by Trail of the Pink Panther (1982).
