The Next Three Days

WHAT IF YOU HAD 72 HOURS TO SAVE EVERYTHING YOU LIVE FOR?

Three years after his wife (Elizabeth Banks) was jailed for life on a murder charge, John Brennan (Russell Crowe) devises a plan to spring her free. A U.S. remake of the French thriller Anything for Her (2008) that makes few changes but is cleverly enough set in Pittsburgh, “The City of Bridges”, which complicates a getaway. Those scenes where Brennan prepares for the breakout in awkward ways and then executes the plan are exciting. The movie benefits from the strength of the stars’ performances… but their characters are not entirely convincing and that goes for parts of the story as well.

2010-U.S.-France. 133 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed byĀ Paul Haggis. Cast: Russell Crowe (John Brennan), Elizabeth Banks (Lara Brennan), Brian Dennehy (George Brennan), Liam Neeson, Lennie James, Olivia Wilde… RZA, Daniel Stern.
