Five years ago Dennis Doyle (Simon Pegg) abandoned his pregnant girlfriend (Thandiwe Newton) at the altar, but now he’ll finally try to man up and woo her back by competing in a marathon against her boyfriend (Hank Azaria). David Schwimmer’s directing debut is a simple comedy set in London. The formula has no surprises whatsoever and Pegg’s character is such a slacker that one initially assumes Azaria may be the best choice for Newton after all… but the American turns out to have a few really unattractive traits and Pegg wins us over with his appealing regular-bloke performance. A slight but amusing film.
