YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Three bullied high-school kids hire a bodyguard (Owen Wilson), not realizing that he is actually a homeless guy who’ll say anything for a buck. Fans of producer Judd Apatow will recognize the concept; this is another comedy of males in dire need of growing up. Wilson does a slacker not unlike the one in You, Me and Dupree (2006) and the three teens will remind audiences of Superbad (2007); very little in this portrayal of life in high school feels fresh. The actors are nevertheless highly amusing, it’s a funny movie and the filmmakers maintain the right, empathetic tone.
