Joe Kidd

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR TROUBLE ā€“ HE’S JOE KIDD.Ā

Former bounty hunter Joe Kidd (Clint Eastwood) is reluctantly drawn into a conflict between a wealthy landowner (Robert Duvall) and a Mexican revolutionary (John Saxon) fighting for land reform. One of director John Sturges’s lesser films, a straight-forward western made complicated by some political content and a story involving characters whose behavior is unconvincing at times. Screenwriter Elmore Leonard doesn’t really follow his thoughts through, but the movie does have exciting ingredients and beautiful California scenery.

1972-U.S. 88 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ John Sturges. Screenplay: Elmore Leonard. Cinematography: Bruce Surtees. Cast: Clint Eastwood (Joe Kidd), Robert Duvall (Frank Harlan), John Saxon (Luis Chama), Don Stroud, Stella Garcia, James Wainwright.
