Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

DARK SECRETS REVEALED.

When Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) returns to Hogwarts for another year, Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) wants his help in trying to learn what a new teacher knows about Voldemort.Ā Director David Yates made the previous film as well, but this sixth chapter feels like more of the same without the passion and tension that made number five stand out. The story mixes Harry and Dumbledoreā€™s quest with teenage hormonal rages; moderately entertaining and it all leads up to an impressive (and in childrenā€™s case, scary) visual-effects-laden climax. Jim Broadbent is amusing as the eccentric Slughorn.

2009-U.S. 153 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ David Yates. Novel: J.K. Rowling. Cast: Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), Helena Bonham Carter, Jim Broadbent, Robbie Coltrane… Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Julie Walters, Timothy Spall.

Trivia:Ā Ralph Fiennesā€™s nephew Hero plays young Voldemort. Guillermo del Toro was allegedly considered for directing duties. Followed byĀ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1Ā (2010).
