One of those shows that go on for years thanks to a loyal audience but is never recognized by the critics or on Emmy night.Ā The King of QueensĀ suffered from a general lack of originality; it had nothing to set it apart from many other similar sitcoms. It did however provide solid, fun entertainment for nine years, as it focused on the Heffernans (Kevin James, Leah Remini), a Queens couple with low-income jobs. In the first season, Carrieās father Arthur (Jerry Stiller) moved in with them and became a constant nuisance; also featured on the show were a few close friends of the Heffernans. Stillerās character was similar to the one he played onĀ Seinfeld;Ā he was funny, but so were the two leads, an odd couple that also brought plenty of charm to the show.
1998-2007:U.S. 207 episodes. Color. Created byĀ Michael J. Weithorn, David Litt. Cast: Kevin James (Doug Heffernan), Leah Remini (Carrie Heffernan), Jerry Stiller (Arthur Spooner), Victor Williams, Patton Oswalt, Gary Valentine, Merrin Dungey.
Trivia:Ā Ray Romano appeared in several episodes as Ray Barone fromĀ Everybody Loves Raymond; Lou Ferrigno also played himself on several occasions.
Quote:Ā āYou know, weāre quite a team. Like Jake and the Fatman. Needless to say, Iām Jake.ā (Stiller to James)
AVERAGE
Heavily misogynistic and homophobic at times, thereās a reason syndication was picked up by CMT.
