KICK SOME ICE.

Two of American figure skating’s brightest stars, Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell) and Jimmy MacElroy (Jon Heder), are banned for life after a violent fight on the ice, but a coach (Craig T. Nelson) sees a future for them as the first all-male pair. A comedy in the vein of Dodgeball (2004). Ferrell is in good form as figure skating’s bad boy who has to partner up with his mortal enemy. Napoleon Dynamite’s Heder is OK in an Owen Wilson-type part, but Will Arnett and Amy Poehler (married in real life) are funnier as evil siblings. It’s all very simple-minded, but an amusing take on an occasionally bizarre sport.
