1408

THE DOLPHIN HOTEL INVITES YOU TO STAY IN ANY OF ITS STUNNING ROOMS. EXCEPT ONE.

1408Mike Enslin (John Cusack), who writes books about haunted hotels (but doesnā€™t believe in ghosts), checks into The Dolphin Hotelā€™s room 1408, a place where no guest has survived more than an hour.Ā Director Mikael HĆ„fstrƶm turns Stephen Kingā€™s clever story into a very entertaining chiller. Some of the ghostly tricks played on Cusack are quite scary and the star makes great use of his likability; his character has a dry sense of humor, but is burdened by a great loss in his life. However, the film loses its way somewhat during the second half as the visual effects go overboard.

2007-U.S. 104 min. Color. Widescreen.Ā Directed byĀ Mikael HĆ„fstrƶm.Ā Short Story:Ā Stephen King.Ā Cast:Ā John Cusack (Mike Enslin), Samuel L. Jackson (Gerald Olin), Mary McCormack (Lily), Tony Shalhoub, Len Cariou, Isiah Whitlock, Jr.
