Basic Instinct 2

SOMETIMES OBSESSION CAN BE MURDER.

London psychologist Michael Glass (David Morrissey) reluctantly takes on the psychopathic Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) who is suspected of another killing. The sequel tries to be more clever than cheap; it has nice London locations and respected actors such as Morrissey, David Thewlis and Charlotte Rampling. Stone is in marvelous shape, even though her character is more annoying this time. In the end though, the story won’t fool anyone and the sex is not as memorable as in the original.

2006-U.S.-Germany. 114 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Michael Caton-Jones. Screenplay: Henry Bean, Leora Barish. Cast: Sharon Stone (Catherine Tramell), David Morrissey (Michael Glass), Charlotte Rampling (Milena Gardosh), David Thewlis, Hugh Dancy, Iain Robertson.

Trivia: David Cronenberg and John McTiernan were allegedly considered for directing duties; Benjamin Bratt and Robert Downey, Jr. for the part of Glass.

Razzie: Worst Picture, Prequel or Sequel, Actress (Stone), Screenplay.
