Meet the Fockers

AND YOU THOUGHT YOUR PARENTS WERE EMBARRASSING.

meetthefockersJack and Dina Byrnes (Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner) go to Miami to meet their son-in-law’s parents; the Fockers turn out to be very different from the conservative Byrneses. The sequel to Meet the Parents (2000) has one thing going for it. The introduction of Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand as a free-spirited couple is good for a few laughs, but the material disappoints. The tension between De Niro and Ben Stiller’s characters is getting a little tiresome. At least everyone involved gives the impression of having a good time.

2004-U.S. 115 min. Color. Produced by Robert De Niro, Jay Roach, Jane Rosenthal. Directed by Jay Roach. Cast: Robert De Niro (Jack Byrnes), Ben Stiller (Greg Focker), Dustin Hoffman (Bernie Focker), Barbra Streisand (Rozalin Focker), Blythe Danner, Teri Polo… Owen Wilson, Jordan Peele.

Trivia: James Brolin, who is married to Streisand, was allegedly considered for the part of Bernie. Followed by Little Fockers (2010).
