The Aristocrats

NO NUDITY. NO VIOLENCE. UNSPEAKABLE OBSCENITY.Ā

aristocratsThis documentary is certainly one of the most foul-mouthed movies you will ever see, so donā€™t miss the opportunity. We’re told it has 100 comedians (I havenā€™t counted them) talking about the most famous joke of the trade, the one that ends with the punchline ā€œThe Aristocratsā€, and gives anyone who tells it limitless chances to be as obscene and gross as possible. It isnā€™t a very funny joke, but itā€™s beloved because of the chance to improvise. Itā€™s such a treat watching these pros talk about the structure of the joke and give us various versions of it. Very funny, to be sure, but somewhat repetitive and some comedians are better than others.

2005-U.S. 89 min. Color. Directed byĀ Paul Provenza.

Trivia: The comedians appearing include Robin Williams, Paul Reiser, Jason Alexander, Carrie Fisher, Phyllis Diller, Penn & Teller, Chris Rock, Kevin Pollak, Sarah Silverman, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, Drew Carey, George Carlin, Billy Connolly, Eddie Izzard, Whoopi Goldberg, Gilbert Gottfried, Eric Idle, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Howie Mandel, Michael McKean, Andy Richter, Don Rickles, Bob Saget, Fred Willard, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Rodney Dangerfield and Buddy Hackett were invited to appear, but had to decline due to their failing health (they have since passed away).
