A View to a Kill

HAS JAMES BOND FINALLY MET HIS MATCH?

James Bond (Roger Moore) realizes that an American industrialist (Christopher Walken) plans to destroy Silicon Valley in order to gain control of the world’s microchip market. Bond flick nr. 14 is fun to watch but it is also one of the series’ silliest. Tanya Roberts fails to do anything with her bimbo geologist, the 58-year-old Moore looks pretty tired in his final Bond film… and then there’s the freak show we know as Grace Jones and Christopher Walken as a pair of of outlandish villains. The action is top-notch, however, and so is the title tune.

1985-Britain. Color. Widescreen. 131 min. Directed by John Glen. Music: John Barry. Song: ”A View to a Kill” (performed by Duran Duran). Cast: Roger Moore (James Bond), Christopher Walken (Max Zorin), Tanya Roberts (Stacey Sutton), Grace Jones, Patrick Macnee, Patrick Bauchau… Desmond Llewellyn, Dolph Lundgren.

Trivia: This was Lundgren’s film debut and Lois Maxwell’s final film as miss Moneypenny. David Bowie and Sting were allegedly considered for the part of Zorin. Followed by The Living Daylights (1987).
