Joey

Joey was the only character on Friends to get a spin-off… but it never matched the success of the original series. Reasonably amusing, but not funny enough; the show was better than its reputation, but always paled in comparison. The cast was considerably weaker in the chemistry department. Matt LeBlanc was still charismatic as the not-very-talented actor who left his friends in New York for a movie career in L.A., moving into an apartment with his nerdy nephew Michael (Paulo Costanzo). His sluttish sister Gina (Drea de Matteo), Michael’s mother, was a frequent guest. Andrea Anders’s character eventually became Joey’s love interest, but she was much too bland to engage viewers.

2004-2006:U.S. Made for TV. 46 episodes. Color. Created by Shana Goldberg-Meehan, Scott Silveri. Cast: Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), Drea de Matteo (Gina Tribbiani), Paulo Costanzo (Michael Tribbiani), Andrea Anders, Jennifer Coolidge, Miguel Nunez, Jr. (05-06).

Quote: “Nah, I’m getting too old for that. Plus I’m not great at telling whether or not they’re gay bars before I go in. Oh by the way, if Ramon calls, I am not here.” (LeBlanc on meeting women in bars)
