MURDER ISN’T ALWAYS A CRIME.
Libby (Ashley Judd) is arrested and convicted of the murder of her husband (Bruce Greenwood); in prison, she discovers that she was set up and begins to plan her revenge. Director Bruce Beresford has often portrayed strong women and this is no exception; Judd is good as the wealthy woman who goes up against her husband who has taken advantage of the double jeopardy clause in the Fifth Amendment. It’s a far-fetched story, but with plenty of tension, and Tommy Lee Jones adds spark as Libby’s parole officer, a character reminiscent of the one he played in The Fugitive (1993).
