Entrapment

THE TRAP IS SET.

Insurance investigator Virginia Baker (Catherine Zeta-Jones) plans on involving Robert MacDougal (Sean Connery), the world’s greatest art thief, in a very complex heist… but who’s playing whom? Englishman Jon Amiel, Scot Connery and Welsh Zeta-Jones come together for an American thriller where the two charismatic stars get to banter. They do it well, the actors enjoy themselves, but that seems to be all there is to the film. Slightly reminiscent of that year’s The Thomas Crown Affair, the final burglary delivers the goods but the movie needs a better ending.

1999-U.S. 112 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Jon Amiel. Cast: Sean Connery (Robert MacDougal), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Virginia Baker), Will Patton (Hector Cruz), Ving Rhames, Maury Chaykin.

Trivia: Co-produced by Connery. Angela Bassett was allegedly considered for the part of Virginia.
