PLAY IT. LIVE IT. KILL FOR IT.Ā
Some time in the future, game designer Allegra Geller (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is testing her latest game together with a focus group, but everything changes when they’re attacked by an assassin. Most directors making a movie about video games would probably end up doing something along the lines of Tron (1982) ā slick, colorful, with lots of CGI. But this is David Cronenberg and his fascination for the abnormalities of the human body results in the most organic take yet on the gaming community. The bizarre story has too many lulls, but is basically well conceived and Howard Shore’s intense music score is a plus.
