A SECRET IS ABOUT TO BE DISCOVERED. AN ADVENTURE IS ABOUT TO BEGIN.
Some time in the early 1900s, a teenage girl (Alexis Bledel) discovers a family living in the woods who have located the fountain of youth. This pleasant remake of the 1980 film has beautiful locations and a flavorful cast, but lacks that extra something; it doesn’t really feel like magic is in the air. Plenty of romance though… and even a bit of tension as Ben Kingsley’s character aims to exploit the fountain. He’s effective as the discreet villain and makes much more of an impact than the higher billed William Hurt and Sissy Spacek; Gilmore Girls star Bledel is very charming as the curious Winnie.
