THE ULTIMATE DISASTER MOVIE.

As “Whistler’s Mother” is headed for California, the National Gallery of Art in London sends Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) as its expert to supervise the event. This movie was meant to make a star out of Bean to American audiences, and it does feel Americanized compared to the 1990-1995 TV series that made the character famous. There’s a certain sentimentality that threatens to ruin the whole thing, but it is nevertheless an entertaining comedy with recycled but enjoyable skits that will be a pleasant surprise for those who never saw them on the TV show. Peter MacNicol gives an amusing supporting performance.
